Golden Cat Case Study
A "Litter"ary Problem Solved
What do you do when your warehouse floor is "literally littered with litter", cat litter that is? Golden Cat, manufacturer of such brands as Tidy Cat and Clean Paws, has found the answer -- a Pallet Inverter from Cherry's Industrial Equipment Corp. of Bensenville, Illinois.
As with most bagged product, damage to the bags on the bottom of the pallet load cause spillage and presents a housekeeping problem. Furthermore the entire load must be unloaded and the bottom bags replaced before shipment to the customer. Unloading and replacement of damaged product by hand represents tedious man hours of work with the possibility of back strain or various other injury.
Golden Cat has revolutionized the process with the use of the Pallet Inverter. Not only does the inverter allow for quick easy replacement of damaged product, it also allows Golden Cat to remove their in-house white pallets and ship the product out on CHEP rental pallets.
The process is simple. The palletized load is placed in the inverter via lift truck. The lift truck operator then simply presses the button that activates the machine. A clamping plate descends and secures the load. The inverter then rotates the load 180 degrees. The damaged bags as well as the white pallet are now on the top of the load. The clamping plate releases and the damaged product can be replaced and the CHEP pallet can be substituted for the white pallet as is necessary. The operator once again pushes a button. The load is again secured by the clamping plate and turned 180 degrees. The clamping plate releases. The load can now be removed by the lift truck and is ready for shipping or return to the warehouse.
Problem solved, no more litter on the floors, no more damaged product inadvertently shipped to the customer, no more loss of in-house pallets and far less likelihood of injury. Cherry's Pallet Inverter is the "real cat's meow".
